What we do
Grasshopper Air Mobility builds autonomous heavy-cargo drones for business and civil logistics. We design the aircraft together with the ground robotics that load, unload and charge them, so the movement runs as one system. Everything we build is electric and fully autonomous.

What drives us
We elevate logistics into the air. The same shipment covers the distance in a fraction of the time. In theory there is also a promise of a lower cost per kilometre and a fraction of the carbon, because the aircraft is electric and the robotics take the handling out of both ends.
However, existing drones have not yet proven that cost point. We understand that drones have to go beyond aerospace innovation and think about logistics from the beginning. That is the reason the company exists, and it is the test every design decision has to pass.
What we built
In 2024 we introduced the Grasshopper e350, an 8.4 metre wingspan cargo aircraft designed to fly between logistics sites, fold its wings, and drive indoors at either end. In September 2025 its scale proof of concept flew at the BCN Drone Center near Barcelona.
The Air Mobility Show reported the maiden flight from the strip. The raw footage of that morning is the film at the top of this page.

What we are building now
In 2026 we closed the e350 chapter and began a second aircraft, designed around a different problem in the same industry.
We based that decision on the outcome of a study run with one of our clients. The new aircraft answers a bigger problem with a simpler solution.

The team
Grasshopper was founded in Barcelona in 2023 by three people who cover the disciplines this work demands: the economics of logistics, the certification of aircraft, and the execution of hardware programmes.
It started with a commute in an Austrian village and a vehicle that could drive and fly. Passenger transport ran into regulation and cost, so the company turned to cargo.

Questions
We designed it, we built and flew its scale proof of concept at the BCN Drone Center in September 2025, and we closed the chapter in 2026. The full-scale aircraft was never built. A study run with one of our clients told us a different aircraft answers a bigger problem, and we would rather be right than be committed.
Most of them solve the flight and leave the ground to somebody else, so the aircraft lands and a person takes over. We design the aircraft together with the robotics that load, unload and charge it, which means the whole movement is one system rather than a flight with manual handling bolted to each end.
It starts with a route you already run and the numbers you already have for it. We look at whether autonomous cargo aviation carries its weight on that route, and if it does we plan a pilot around it. Nobody is asked to redesign their operation to suit an aircraft.
We are based in Barcelona and we fly at the BCN Drone Center, Europe's oldest drone prototyping centre, inside its segregated airspace. Heavy cargo aviation is regulated by EASA, and in September 2025 its SORA 2.5 framework replaced the ceiling that had effectively capped this class of aircraft for years.
